Nikon D300

Wheee! Finally I've gotten myself a new camera. A D300 with a 18-200 VR. Still waiting for the real glass, the 70-200 f/2.8 VR and the 14-24 f/2.8 to arrive...

Hello,

My sister lives in Dubai and I wonder if prices over there are interesting.
And how much did it cost you and where did you buy it?

Thanks

Hi,

the prices here isn't that good compared to Ritz or B&H in New York.

I payed DHS 10700 ($2900) for the D300 and a 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 VR as a package deal. The 14-24 f/2.8 that I got a couple of days later was $2500. When the 70-200 f/2.8 VR finally arrives it will be $2100.

I bought them from the main distributor, Grand Stores at Maktoum street, Deira where they also got the service center for the region.

It would probably have been cheaper for me to fly to New York, stay a night or two and buy it there, airfare included. But there's no international warranty for the camera, only the lenses. It's easier to buy it all locally and know that there will never be any warranty troubles.

Those lenses you bought, are they Nikon lenses or Sigma?

And are you sure from the prices? Because the 70-200 f/2.8 in Dubai is the most expensive.

It was a long time ago, but as far as I remember it the 70-200/2.8 was just a tad below DHS 8000.

Yes, all Nikkor glass.

Btw, do anyone know where to get a pano head in Dubai? I've got a strong urge to do some qtvr shots...
