The Rulers

We got a new painting for the 9'th floor office picturing all rulers of the seven emirates. The Ruler of Dubai is the one in the lower left corner.

Starting from the top left they are:

1. Sheikh Dr. Sultan III ibn Muhammad al-Qasimi -Ruler of Sharjah
2. Sheikh Humaid IV ibn Rashid Al Nuaimi -Ruler of Ajman
3. Sheikh Rashid III ibn Ahmad Al Mu`alla - Ruler of Umm al-Qaiwain
4. Sheikh Saqr ibn Muhammad al-Qasimi - Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah
5. Sheikh Hamad ibn Mohammad ash-Sharqi- Ruler of Fujairah
6. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum - Ruler of Dubai, Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates.

Small car for small packages

I saw this tiny car at Dubai airport freezone. I'd be scared shitless if I was driving that car among all huge SUVs like Hummers, Escalades and Rangerovers that the roads here are filled with here.

In Dubai a dirty car usually receives a 'fingered' message like this very quickly.

Office view

This is part of the view from my corner office at the 9th floor in the Concorde building. To the left you see the twin towers of the Marriot hotel, straight ahead the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. With this camera it looks really far away but in the real world I can see it very well.

Mall of the Emirates

This is the dome roof in MOE. It reminds me of an old railroad station.

No, I'm still in Dubai. This is a building on my way to the office that's being demolished.

Insect cluster

While walking to the office yesterday morning I noticed this cluster of wasp-like insects on a loose electrical wire. They were still there this morning. I wonder why they are doing this here, in colder climates they cluster for keeping the heat but here with it being hotter than 42C (107F) it seems strange.
